Adoption Status Update
We can hardly believe it's been two months with Sam. We spent 24 Days in Florida waiting to bring our little guy home. We've been slowly adjusting to newborn life i.e. sleep deprivation) here in Massachusetts.
We've been so very lucky to have friends and family generously check-in, send hand-me downs, diapers, and wipes. Meal Trains were sent and meals were consumed. Sam has met cousins, family, and friends.
Sam has had several check-ins at Boston Children's Hospital but is doing well. We have a few more visits but hopefully, we'll get to enjoy normal newborn life this Summer.
We've also had our first adoption post-placement visit with our caseworker (we are required to do three visits). Sam's legal adoption (we are temporary guardians) won't be formally scheduled until after these visits are concluded and we are found to be reliable humans.

Baby Registry Now Open
We've had a baby registry built forever, even before we knew about Sam, but between transitioning home and caring for Sam, between Florida and Massachusetts, we've had to purchase a ton of items ourselves just out of necessity and daily life. We've also had folks generously send items.
For our friends and family who want to purchase items off our Baby Registry, we are now ready to open that up FINALLY! Thank you for your patience as we figured out what we really needed and/or what we could ask you to help support.
PLEASE check with us if you are sending us items not on our registry, before doing so as we already have some everyday items in hand and Sam is still quite small so sizing for diapers, clothes, etc is tricky.
Please note, we are NOT doing a formal baby shower but a tiny human shindig where gifts are not expected or requested. More of a let's hang and meet Sam this Fall. More details below.
Tiny Human Shindig
Several folks have asked if we will have a baby shower. Adoption life means that we often miss out on the standard experiences like a baby shower. We will be holding a Meet the Tiny Human Shindig sometime after Sam's adoption is finalized, likely in September. While this is not a formal baby shower, we want to celebrate Sam, celebrate our family and thank you for all the support. More to come once we have all the details.
Always With Gratitude
I (Katy) seriously still tear up in thinking about just how many humans have helped us get to this moment and every moment thereafter.
As always, we are so very very grateful to all our wonderful humans, community, and village who have helped us adopt and parent Sam. We cannot wait to celebrate with you in the coming months.
